Once approved, the process begins with the removal of a thin layer of enamel from the surface of your teeth, often half a millimeter or less. This is done to make room for the veneer and allow for a more natural-looking fit. After that, the dentist will take an impression of your teeth and send it off to create your custom veneers. Sometimes, your dentist may apply temporary veneers while you wait for the permanent veneers to arrive.
How Are Veneers Attached to Teeth?

While some patients feel sensitivity when the enamel is being removed (and sometimes after), this sensitivity typically wears off within a few hours or days.
How Long Do Veneers Last?
With proper care and maintenance, dental veneers can last for about 10 to 15 years. In some cases, they might last even longer. Porcelain veneers tend to last longer than other, less common types of veneers, so choosing porcelain may be one way to extend the life of your veneers.
