Bridges & Crowns

Bridges

bridges-small_rev.jpgIf a missing tooth is left unfilled, the teeth surrounding the gap may begin to drift out of position. A bridge is used to replace an entire tooth or multiple missing teeth.

Bridges are cemented into your jaw and can only be removed by a cosmetic dentist. Bridges are maintained in the same manner as your natural teeth - regular flossing, brushing, and visiting your dentist. Though a bridge is not as ideal as a dental implant, it can be a good solution to fill in a gap in your smile.

Crowns

A dental crown is a restoration that covers a tooth. The purpose of this cosmetic dentistry procedure is to restore your tooth's natural size and shape. Porcelain crowns also improve your tooth's appearance, as well as your entire smile. Dental crowns look and feel the same as your natural teeth and typically last for over five years. Porcelain crowns are a good solution if your tooth is damaged and a regular filling doesn't work. Crowns hold your cracked tooth together while ensuring the crack won't get worse.

Kremer Dental Care is now offering CEREC restorations! Cerec is a dental restoration technology that allows the production of an indirect ceramic dental restoration using a variety of computer assisted technologies, including 3D photography and CAD/CAM. With CEREC, teeth can be restored in a single sitting with the patient, rather than the multiple sittings required with earlier techniques. Additionally, with the latest software and hardware updates, crowns, veneers, onlays and inlays can be prepared, using different types of ceramic material.
Most dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth prepared, an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You make a second appointment for a couple of weeks later, get another injection, have the temporary pried off and have a permanent restoration put on. With CEREC, the procedure is done in a single appointment, start to finish. With CEREC, the is made from strong, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials match the composition of natural tooth structure. This means when hot food or cold drinks are consumed the restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth w e can save as much healthy tooth tissue as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth.
